For countless people, kratom has helped them either cut back drastically on their alcohol intake, or has helped them quit completely.
But for some people, they would like to continue to drink alcohol as well as take kratom. For them, there is not a lot of scientific data to help them in making this decision, but we do have some anecdotal experience, as well as lots of feedback from our cutomers that we are happy to pass along.
It has been reported by many kratom consumers who take upward of 15 grams of kratom a day that their bodies simply react poorly to putting alcohol into their systems, while already having a good it of kratom in their body. There is oftentimes discomfort associated with the combination of kratom and alcohol. Sometimes there is also body temperature dysregulation that happens when someone mixes kratom and alcohol. Those things being said, these things are most reported by folks who have a decent amount of kratom in their systems. And the degree of negative interactions is usually in the "uncomfortable" realm, as opposed to reactions that are more severe.
On the other hand, it has been reported that in reasonable doses, kratom and alcohol are usually able to be comined without much problem. The most important detail in the marriage of kratom and alcohol, though, is just that--- how much of each substance is being consumed.
There have indeed been what are reported as "overdoses" on kratom, and many of these toxicology reports reveal that there was kratom, alcohol, and other substances in the person's body at the time of death. Usually the "other" substances are opioids, benzodiazepines, or some form of illicit drug (s). It is unfortunate that kratom gets tied up in these situations because the root of the overdose is likely mixing many things to the point of it being lethal for the person's body, and kratom being the least problematic of all of them.
At the end of the day, it is up to each person to decide if they want to mix kratom and alcohol. There is not much (if any) definitive evidence to say for sure exactly what happens in the body when we combine kratom and alcohol. So, be aware of that in your decision making. Be responsible. Don't overdo it. Harm reduction is important when it comes to introducing all foreign things into our bodies. Kratom and alcohol included.
